Construction / Technology and the Skilled Trades (TCJ/TAS)
The construction and applied woodworking studies we explore the often humbling study of the trades from a safety-first mindset. We recognize that often the academic studies are far more monotonous, repetitive, safe, and less intellectually-engaging than the challenges presented by environments of problem solving with genuine potential for hazard - the trades. So we adopt a lifelong student mentality with a deference for our projects, materials and tools. Here are some of the materials I teach with.
Photography (AWQ/TGP)
Photography is so much more than just imagery or light. The art and science of photography are very much one and the same. A dance of technology and light, where strength and beauty can be found in both the objective and subjective, depending on how you want to look for it.
Enabling students through both technical tools and artistic concepts is the best means to ensure their success. If lighting is the language of photography, then let us come to it from both dialects: technical and visual arts. The following pages on photography theory and lessons will approach the subject from both the technical and visual arts perspectives so as to enable the learner with a broader understanding.
Videography (ASM/TGV/TGJ)
Possibly the most complex and simultaneously rewarding realm of imagery, video can be daunting to tackle. It incorporates the theory and steep learning curves of still imagery, with audio processing, the dynamics of movement, incredibly calculated movements, and unforgiving pressures. Learn everything from concept, to project planning, story boarding, equipment, shooting, directing, editing, post-processing, and more here.
